_If 9 11 happened. I believe Saddam would still be in power there would have been no political cover to invade Iraq. George W. Bush would be out of office. He would have had to run for reelection on domestic issues. please contact me at judihusband@yahoo.com

I think Hitler would have still been a mass-murdering jerk! Rather than turning his anger against the Jews, he would would have tortured Christians instead.
What if 9/11/01 had never happened?!? « Result #7 on Jul 12, 2005, 5:13pm »
I am interested in discussing alternate timelines with anyone on what would have happened if the tragic events of 9/11/01 had never happened. I have also checked some other websites on 9/11. Some were just stupid ( like how all the terrorists got food posining - and only them - and died. Therefore the events never happened )! However there were some excellent ones that I read! In one, the terrorist attacks were more widespread in the US and much, much worse! As a result President George Bush launched a nuclear attack on Afghanistan. I don't know if anyone is interested in discussing this time line with me or not!
(1962) The Cuban Missle War « Result #8 on Mar 20, 2005, 11:41am »
1962 October 28 6:30 AM Local Time: The feared coup in the Soviet govt proves to be true. The weary and nervous voice of Khruschev is broadcast over a long range through America and most countries. Even the translator seems to be nervous as he relays the message to the world. For lack of a better summation it says "bring it"
6:45 AM Local Time: JFK RFK and his council meet at the white house, along with members of the press. JFK prepares to address the people, and is nearly half way through his prepared speach when word of Bombs already falling on American soil interrupts.
6:50 AM Local Time: St Louis is wiped out in a phalanx of bombings. Naval Units in the vicinity of Cuba begin launching regular bombing runs and sea to land missle attacks.
8:30 AM Berlin falls to Soviet Control. NATO begins its response to the soviet offensive.
The world watches and waits

I think the key ways the CSA could have won are within the battles themselves. If Gettysberg, for example, had swung the other way. I think that a military victory for the CSA, or at least a strategic stalemate, would have meant only a subtly different future. Economic necessity would have pushed the CSA into some form of co-operation with the north because it lacked an industrial base. Where economic aims coincide, so do international aims, so WWI would have seen USA/CSA troops fighting at least side by side, if not as one 'American' force.

A-bombs wouldn't come into it in that scenario. Only the US had it and only used it to speed the inevitable end of the war and avoid casualties. In the event of a standoff I think it would have eventually simmered down, with France a sort of buffer zone. Once the US geared up to help Britain, Germany could not compete economically or militarily and would be exhausted as it dealt with the resistance forces in Europe. Maybe even an eventual Soviet-style collapse of the Nazi empire...
